New Star Wars Announced (Topic)

A new project related to the Star Wars universe is in the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter, writer and director Justin Dillard, best known for Agility, and Matt Owens, who co-wrote Luke Cage and Agents of SHIELD, have been hired to develop project. It is unclear whether the project is in the works for a theater release or for the new Disney + streaming platform.

Details regarding the plot, characters and setting are unknown. At the time of this writing, there is no official word on whether Dillard will take the director's seat if the project is given the green light. The project has nothing to do with what the head of the Marvel studio Kevin Feige will do in relation to the development of the Star Wars Cinematic Universe.

Since its worldwide release in December 2019, Star Wars 9: Skywalker Rising has grossed over a billion dollars. For the new fictional series The Mandalorian, created by Jon Favreau, its release helped Disney + grow its subscribers to 26.6 million. The second season of the show will be released on the platform in October this year. As a reminder, in May 2019, Walt Disney announced the rental schedule of three yet untitled Star Wars movies, which will be presented on December 16, 2022, December 20, 2024 and December 18, 2026.
