FX has commissioned the production of a series based on Brian K. Vaughan's cult comic "Y: The Last Man". Michael Green has been appointed as the showrunner of the drama, and Barry Keogan and Diane Lane are the leading actors. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The "Y: The Last Man" comic series by Vertigo is one of the most famous in the world. The comic first appeared on store shelves in 2002. Since then, 60 issues have been released, which were later published in ten volumes.

The main characters of the comic - a guy named Yorick Brown (Keogan) and his tame capuchin Ampersand - are the last two carriers of the Y chromosome on Earth. Yorick is trying to solve the mystery of the epidemic that has destroyed other male and male mammals, and understand how to preserve the future of humanity.

Green ("American Gods") and Ida Croal ("Luke Cage") will share the duties of showrunners and executive producers. Melina Matsukas (White Crow) will direct the pilot episode. In addition to Keoghan and Lane, the cast includes Amber Tamblyn, Imogen Poots, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canwild and Marin Ireland.

There have been several attempts to movie the comic as a feature movie, but this never happened.
