Doug Cockle, who voiced Geralt of Rivia in CD Projekt RED's The Witcher, shared his thoughts on a possible return for the game. The actor expressed his confidence in the creation of the fourth edition of the line and proposes to make Ciri her central character.

In recent months, CD Projekt RED has made it clear that it is focusing on the production of Cyberpunk 2077. In June, the game gained widespread attention thanks to reports revealing information about a project that has remained under a veil of secrecy to fans for nearly six years. If we add to this the great ambitions of the creators and the long work on the title, then while the messages about the next The Witcher are unlikely. At least not from the developers themselves.

During an interview with Gamereactor magazine, Doug Cockle casually mentioned how he sees the future of the fourth "The Witcher". In his opinion, Polish authors should focus not on Geralt, but on Ciri.

Is Ciri the main character?

The idea of making Cyril the main character is far from new. In the end, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt put an end to Geralt's story, and it's hard to find a better character for the next game than the White Wolf's adopted daughter. As a witcher, Ciri allows creators to preserve the basics of gameplay, and her visits to other worlds would provide creators with a lot of room for ideas, as noted by Doug Cockle. Another thing is that according to one of the endings of the "troika", Ciri could not survive, and even if she remains alive, her fate could be different. Of course, the developers can recognize one of the endings as canonical, but not everyone will like it.

But the story of The Witcher is over

It would seem, why do we need the next "Witcher" if the third part has already brought the series to its logical end? But it is unlikely that CD Projekt RED will so easily abandon the brand, which has received worldwide recognition and is still mentioned in the media. However, even if the creators are already planning work on The Witcher 4, we will have to wait a long time for information about it.
