Review of the flagship smartphone Asus Zenfone 6

This phone is not like the others. It differs from previous Asus products and from this its popularity only increases. The gadget turned out to be not only interesting, but also one of the most versatile. Let's take a closer look at the device.

Features and Design

This product can be called moderately premium. The Asus Zenfone 6 smartphone is equipped with a 6.4-inch IPS LCD display, FHD + resolution and a 19.5: 9 ratio. For protection from mechanical damage, its front panel is covered with Gorilla Glass 6.

All hardware stuffing is controlled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, the Qualcomm Adreno 640 is responsible for the graphics. They are powered by 6/8 GB of RAM and 64/256 GB of internal memory. The capacity of the latter can be expanded up to 2 TB by using microSD cards.

The battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh and is equipped with 18W Quick Charge 4.0.

The main camera, which is equipped with a mechanism for taking selfies, consists of two sensors. The main one has a resolution of 48 megapixels with an aperture of f / 1.79. The second sensor is an ultra-wide lens. Its resolution is 13 megapixels.

The operating system is Android 9 Pie with the ZenUI 6 add-on.

The gadget comes with a charger, USB-C cable and a protective silicone case.

The smartphone has an aluminum frame and weighs 190 grams. Initially, it appears to be entirely made of metal. The device has a large number of ports and buttons.

On the right is the power button, volume rocker and quick action button. It will help to instantly launch Google Assistant, but you can customize its operation individually.

At the bottom, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port, and speaker grilles. A fingerprint scanner and a camera module have found their place on the back panel. The latter has the ability to roll over relative to the upper part of the case, so there is no need for the front camera.

The front panel has no cutouts or holes, the percentage of usable area is close to the maximum.

Display and cameras

Not all users will like the LCD screen, which drains the battery faster and reduces the dynamic range. The maximum display brightness is 600 nits. It is equipped with DCP-I3 coating to accommodate the full color space.

As mentioned above, the camera module is folding.

As the main one, the Zenfone 6 uses a Sony IMX586 sensor with a resolution of 48 megapixels. It is not unique, but it can be called the form factor of the module. With it, high-quality pictures are obtained not only of ordinary images, but also of those related to the category of selfies.

Their dynamic range is at a high level, it is not blurry, sharpness is also good. If you shoot in low light, the photos come out good, but with a lot of noise. This is where the long exposure mode function comes to the rescue. It captures more light and improves quality.

Performance & Software

The gadget's software is lightweight, which contributes to its performance. There are no brakes and lags at all during its work. Here a significant role belongs to RAM, which supports high-speed performance. It is also permissible to perform several tasks at once without pushing several programs out of the display at the same time.

In the AnTuTu test, the smartphone scored 370,000 points, which surpassed the Galaxy S10 Plus. In Geekbench 4, it outperformed it slightly in single-core mode, but then lagged slightly behind in multi-core mode.

ZenUI 6 is the latest software from the company. It is lightweight and not energy intensive, which contributes to optimal energy consumption.

Previous generation Asus smartphones were notable for the presence of cluttered applications. This approach was abandoned when developing this product. The new user interface allows you to control everything that happens on your smartphone with great success.

Sound and autonomy

The Asus Zenfone 6 is equipped with two speakers. One is located on the bottom edge, the other on the top panel. They sound good, but they lack low frequencies.

The device received a 5000 mAh battery. Despite this great importance, the autonomy is average. It will only last for a day of intensive device operation.
