Owners of Xiaomi smartphones are increasingly unhappy with the new MIUI 10 firmware

Android has gained a reputation as an operating system that provides users with a certain degree of freedom and independence in managing the settings of their mobile device, modifying its firmware.

However, the manufacturer Xiaomi, perhaps unintentionally, is going to limit the actions of the owners of the smartphones of the same name, which will soon be updated to the proprietary MIUI 10 OS.

Anti-rollback as a means of limiting

Xiaomi's MIUI 10 gets a new anti-rollback limiting tool. As the manufacturer himself explains, the option is designed specifically to ensure the protection of personal data in the phone from intruders. The developers associate the likelihood of obtaining someone else's personal information with a huge number of vulnerabilities in software components that allow you to get into someone else's phone.

For example, even with the most modern operating system, unauthorized persons, having physical access to the device, can return it to an earlier version of the OS, and then get the necessary information through the holes in it.

For this reason, Xiaomi has equipped the new MIUI 10 firmware with an anti-rollback tool, which limits the ability to step back to previous OS versions. MIUI 10 is already available for owners of popular Mi 8, Redmi 6 Pro, Mi 6X brand models, and in the near future it will be extended to other Xiaomi devices.

The new operating system from Xiaomi actually limits the owners of the phones of the same name, who are forced to use only the most current version of the software. Such measures do increase security and reduce the likelihood of being compromised, but at the same time they are an obstacle for Android smartphone owners to use something else.

The majority of Xiaomi device owners do not support the new MIUI 10 OS feature. For this reason, the manufacturer can meet user preferences by making the anti-rollback functionality less rigid and granting a personal right to activate or deactivate this protection tool at its discretion.
