GPD, a compact Windows company, has unveiled its second generation gaming laptop. The device was named Win Max, and the 8-inch diagonal made it the smallest representative of the current gaming mobile gadgets. According to the developers, the netbook is suitable for most modern games, both regular and networked.

Key Features

Win Max weighs no more than 0.8 kg, and the size of a gaming laptop is comparable to the smallest representative of Apple tablets - iPad mini. The gadget is presented in one complete set. The basis of the eight-inch touchscreen display is the IPS-matrix. Visually, its sides form a 16:10 ratio, the viewing angle is 178 degrees, the screen supports HD format.

The heart of the netbook is the Intel Core i5-1035G7 quad-core processor, created using 10-nanometer technology. By default, the graphics are handled by the Iris Plus 940 Gen 11 mobile video card integrated into the chip, but at the same time Win Max supports the ability to use an additional video chip using a Thunderbolt 3 connection.

The main memory is represented by a 512 GB SSD, while due to its diminutive size, the gaming laptop does not have the technical ability to connect additional media. The LPDDR4X module is responsible for the RAM, its volume is 16 GB. The gadget is powered by three 5000 mAh batteries, and there is also a separate 65 W power supply in the kit. Two fans are provided to cool the systems.

GPD Win Max supports Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6 wireless standards, among its ports there is a pair of USB-C 3.1 Gen2 (one with Thunderbolt 3 support), another pair of USB 3.1 Gen1, one RJ45 slot and HDMI 2.0b. The default operating system is Windows 10.

Game parameters

According to the manufacturer, the technical capabilities of Win Max will extend almost all modern games to a laptop, while the gadget is not afraid of high graphics, but this will require a full-size graphics chip from a desktop device.

The keyboard of the netbook has full-size backlit keys. Above it sits a built-in game controller that looks like an Xbox One counterpart. The gamepad has two sticks, the standard XYAB, L1 / L2, R1 / R2 buttons and a D-pad - all this provides Win Max with portability in games without the need to connect a mouse or other external devices.

GPD Win Max has become the second representative of the game series. In comparison with it, its predecessor - Win 2 has more modest characteristics, although it also has a built-in gamepad. The design of the new Win Max turned out to be more elegant, and in general, the second generation netbook outwardly came closer to the current models of mobile PCs. One of the main differences between Win 2 and its successor Win Max is the keyboard - the new laptop has a larger volume and looks more spacious. This update was specifically designed to make the device more comfortable for gaming.
