Intel Corporation announced a massive expansion of the chipset family. Intel branded processors have been supplemented with new 9th generation products. The major update includes 6 new mobile products and a whopping 26 desktop products built on an improved 14nm process technology. A feature of some chips is the introduction of a new technology that automatically increases the clock speed under certain parameters, as well as support for Wi-Fi 6.

All six mobile novelties are included in the 9th generation H family. They are based on the Coffee Lake Refresh architecture. Different models contain from 4 to 8 cores. The manufacturer has added Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB) technology to some of the six new products. This is a turbo overclocking tool that allows the chipset to automatically accelerate beyond the standard Turbo mode.

Core i9-9980HK is the highest performing Intel mobile chip. The flagship has 8 cores and 16 threads. The operating frequency is 2.4 GHz, which can be accelerated to 4.9 GHz. This processor is positioned for high-performance workstations and powerful gaming laptops.

The flagship product i9-9980HK together with the i9-9880H solution, which is close to it in terms of functionality, are supplemented with a new TVB function. Its working principle is as follows. The system monitors the temperature of the processor. When it does not exceed the norm of + 50 ° C, the function itself increases the performance of the chip.

Other Intel mobile processors are available in 6- and 4-core solutions with and without TVB technology. Among them are the Core i7, which has 6 cores and 12 computational threads, and among the mobile novelties there is a Core i5 (8 threads and 4 cores). These solutions are aimed at lightweight notebooks of the new generation.

For desktop systems, Intel processors have also been supplemented with new products, including Celeron, Pentium, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7 and Core i9 models for budget and top-end devices. They are also based on the Coffee Lake Refresh architecture and 14nm process technology in an updated format.

All new desktop items have different positioning. It can be read in letters that complement the processor name. For example, the letter "K" means the possibility of an additional increase in the clock frequency, the suffix "F" marks models without integrated graphics, the letter "T" is used for solutions with energy saving.

Intel Core i9-9900 became the flagship of desktop novelties. It consists of 8 cores and 16 threads, operating frequency 3.1 GHz with the possibility of increasing to a maximum of 5.0 GHz. Its main difference from the predecessors already on the market (i9-9900K and i9-9900KF) is the power consumption indicator: 65 W instead of 95 W.

In comparison with the premium chipsets of three years ago, the new Intel processors are announced by the manufacturer as more productive solutions for games (up to 56%) and work with 4K video (up to 54%). Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Razer, Lenovo already have laptops equipped with 9th generation chipsets.
