Top 10 Adult Anime

Anime was originally aimed at children, but as its popularity and demographics grew, a lot of adult anime began to appear. And here it's not even about the abundance of blood or the sexual nature of the material [although there is also enough of that good here], but in the themes of the plot, which makes these anime adults. We will tell you about 10 anime titles for adults that have serious themes or a plot so trashy that you can only digest and appreciate it as an adult.

Detroit Metal City

One of the best trash comedies you can find in anime. The shy protagonist from a small village moves to Tokyo to play Swedish pop after learning. However, by the dictates of fate, he became the vocalist of a death-metal band, where he appears in the form of the terrible Krauser.

Legend has it that Krauser killed his parents after he crawled out of his mother's womb to escape and form his own band, Detroit Metal City [they even, like Rammstein, have a man who is humiliated on stage]. This is an almanac of short stories about how GG has to share his life as a shy man and a hellish Krauser, where stereotypes about hard rock are ridiculed. Plus, everything is accompanied by the music of Maximum the Hormone

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

Continuation of the full-length "Ghost in the Shell" by Mamoru Oshii. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex explores the daily routine of Major Motoko Kusanagi and Bato as they fight cybercrime in a world filled with cyborgs, hackers and shadow terrorist groups.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex isn't the bloodiest or most violent anime on this list, but it still boasts one of the deepest sci-fi stories ever made. It is aimed at an adult audience that appreciates topics about the cruelty of science.

Juubee Ninpuuchou

Yoshiaki Kawajiri created one of the most famous adult animes while working at Madhouse and his name is Juubee Ninpuuchou. The anime style is inspired by American crime classics noir. The anime has great characters, as well as an abundance of brutal scenes that you will remember for a long time.

Juubee Ninpuuchou remains one of his most popular works by Yoshiaki Kawajiri. She helped raise anime's status in the west back in the 90s. The protagonist Jubei Kibagami often fights and his battles are so well thought out that the end result is hypnotic.

Mnemosyne: Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi

According to the plot of this anime, the world tree Yggdrasil once every few years bears fruits that have the property of preserving memory. Sometimes these seeds end up in people. They endow women with immortality, and men, under the influence of these seeds, turn into creatures similar to angels who have power, but they are also possessed by simple instincts. Immortal women and male angels are in constant conflict.

The anime tells about two immortal women, Rin and Mimi, who chose the path of detectives for themselves.

Kenzo Tenma, a young and talented neurosurgeon from Japan, works in a hospital in Germany. All his superiors are corrupt and Tenma is tired of being forced to violate the rule of admitting patients to the operating table. One day, a boy with a bullet wound to the head, as well as the burgomaster, will get to the hospital almost simultaneously. The authorities order Tenme to carry out an operation to the city leader, despite the fact that the boy arrived first. Tenma decides to save the boy, but after that he is demoted and deprived of all privileges.

Several years pass and the entire leadership of the hospital is killed, and suspicion falls on Tenma. He has to flee and start looking for the killer. It turns out that Tenma himself created him and he is a real monster. A very intense anime that reveals the darkest corners of human nature.

Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star)

You most likely know Hokuto no Ken from Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru's meme. But I will say that Fist of the North Star is the most brutal and bloody Senenn. Although you may be scared off by the roughness of its execution, it is worth it.

The anime has a strong Mad Max influence, which gives it its charm. It tells the story of the post-apocalypse world and a vagabond who has tremendous power and tries to restore order and justice with brute force.

Shigurui (Shigurui: Death Frenzy)

If Blade of the Immortal didn't live up to your expectations [like a brutal samurai anime], I recommend checking out Shigurui (Shigurui: Death Frenzy).

Shigurui is set in the Edo era, which should be of interest to history buffs. But the main advantage of anime is the liters of blood that will satisfy those who want to see a decent slasher.

The plot is also quite good and quite deep.

"The Other" tells the story of a class where students are trying not to die. It also has a girl that no one notices except Kuichi Sakakibara, a newbie who has just transferred to school.

The Other is one of the best anime horror movies of the past decade, plus it's a very bloody story where teenagers die.

Gyakkyou Burai Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor

Kaiji Ito is an unemployed drunkard; lives on money from car thefts. One day a man in a brown raincoat comes to him and says that he owes money to important people, and as a way out invites him to take part in a gamble. He has to play it for additional borrowed money with other debtors on an isolated ship - the one who loses will have to work for the organizers for several years.

The story revolves around a legion of cannibals known as the Shokujinki fighting the Kifuken, a group of hunters. Toshihiko Momota is one of Kifuken's hunters, but his life gets complicated when he falls in love with Yuka and she turns out to be one of the Shokujinki.

The first thing that immediately catches the eye in Kemonozume is its unique art style. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the director was the person who worked on Ping Pong The Animation. He crosses a fine line between being stylistic, rude, and even a little odd.
