Everything We Know About Resident Evil 3 Remake

Despite the fact that numerous leaks predicted the announcement of Resident Evil 3 Remake, and it was not a surprise to us, we should be glad that the game will come out. We've compiled everything we know about Resident Evil 3 Remake.

What you need to know before watching Resident Evil 3 Remake?

The original Resident Evil 3 was released a long time ago, back in 1999. Many of the younger gamers have hardly even played it. That being said, some moments of the remake in the trailer were new even for those familiar with the classics. With these facts in mind, Game Informer has put together general information about what you need to know before starting a game, or at least buying it. We have added information to the material.

Who is Nemesis?

Fans of the original RE 3 may be familiar with the tyrant of the same name, but newcomers haven't seen him yet, as Capcom only teased us with the glare of his lifeless eyes [but we did see him on one of the cover versions]. According to Capcom, this tyrant is smarter and more vicious than Mr. X from the Resident Evil 2 remake. Armed with various firearms, including a rocket launcher, Nemesis was tasked with killing all former STARS members. You are its prey.

Who is Jill Valentine?

Jill Valentine is a member of the STARS squad. She is one of the protagonists of the entire RE series and the main character in RE 3. In the first game, Jill and her partner Chris Redfield uncover a plot to create a biological weapon for the pharmaceutical company Umbrella. The company tried to hide behind their investigation in order to kill the STARS squad, steal bio-weapons and hide their illegal experiments.

Unable to contact management, Jill and the other surviving agents decide to take on Umbrella on their own. After investigating the case at the mansion, Jill witnesses the outbreak and spread of the T-virus in Raccoon City, as shown by RE 2. Resident Evil 3 details how Jill escaped.

When does the game unfold?

Originally conceived as the RE 3 spin-off does not advance the story further than it was shown in the second part, the third game rather fills in the gaps associated with the events of RE 2. It talks about Jill's attempts to escape Raccoon City while following her a terrible and mysterious Nemesis follows. Through Jill's story, players will learn the fate of Raccoon City, the reason for creating Nemesis, and why Umbrella decided to release the monster into the city.

How many story campaigns are there?

Unlike RE and RE 2, RE 3 has only one story campaign. However, the game is still replayable. Throughout Jill's story, we have been able to make choices that not only changed the story, but also offered unique end-game scenes - including new cutscenes, endings, and enemy placement. To see them all, you will have to replay the campaign several times. Are there any new mechanics? The original RE 3 was technically better than past Resident Evil, and offered some technical innovations. For example, fast reversal and crafting of ammo. This eventually became the standard for the series. It introduced an excellent dodge mechanic, but it was implemented badly. Let's hope Capcom hears our prayers and updates the evasion rather than removing it.

The game is more action oriented

In the first dev diary, we were told that more action will be delivered to the third game.

“When comparing Resident Evil 3 to Resident Evil 2, it leans more towards action. Therefore, we are making a remake with this in mind, ”said producer Masachika Kawata in the same diary. Regardless, the game won't turn into a hideous Hollywood action movie like Resident Evil 6.

Jill's new design

Jill's appearance has undergone significant changes. Now she looks more like a normal, real person. They also swapped her hideous late-nineties club outfit for the 2013 Tomb Raider Lara Croft outfit.

The developers said that in the updated design they tried to give it the look of a seasoned person who is not the first time meeting such monsters.

Resident Evil Resistance is part of Resident Evil 3 multiplayer

Every copy of the Resident Evil 3 remake will also come with Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetric 1v4 multiplayer shooter. Similar to the hit multiplayer game Dead By Daylight, Resistance pits four survivors against one human controlling monsters. Instead of directly controlling the beasts, he strategically places traps and enemies to prevent survivors from escaping.

This is a cool concept, but its success depends on the players, whether they keep the interest after the first month of the game or leave it. If the game manages to keep the attention of gamers, it will be cool.

Release Date & Special Edition

Resident Evil 3 Remake will officially launch on April 3, 2020 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Those who pre-order the game will receive a classic costume for Jill so she can look much like the original.

Along with the standard version of the game, an exclusive collectible version from GameStop will be available. The RE3 Collector's Edition includes an 11-inch Jill figure based on the new design and on the same scale as the Leon figure released with the Resident Evil 2 Collector's Edition.

It also includes an art book containing Umbrella Corporation images and documents, a digital soundtrack from Resident Evil 3 and Resistance, and a double-sided poster with a map of the game.
