Any technology in our time is constantly being improved and developed. This fully applies to data storage methods. Nowadays, SSDs are very popular, but not everyone is ready to completely abandon the use of hard drives. Therefore, some companies continue to work on improving them.

Japanese diversified manufacturer Showa Denko KK, has announced a new way to manufacture hard drives - HAMR technology.

It is a magnetic recording method with heating to increase the density of the recorded information. The developers claim that this method will increase the capacity of hard drives up to 70-80 TB.

Surprisingly, this technology allows you to solve the "trilemma of magnetic recording", the complexity of which lies in meeting three requirements at once. These include: resistance to thermal vibrations, ease of magnetization and structural features of fine particles.

The standard recording density is known to be about 1.14 TB per square inch. Production of hard disks based on HAMR will increase this parameter by 5-6 times. As a result, the capacity of a 3.5-inch HDD will be 70-80 TB.

For this, Showa Denko KK engineers propose to use iron and platinum impurities on a thin magnetic layer, which are capable of creating small crystal particles on the disk. Also, this material is not afraid of heating.

A laser is used for recording.

The timing of the start of commercial use of the new technology has not yet been reported. At the same time, it became known that another company - Seagate had already developed a 16 TB hard drive with a new method. By the end of this year, it intends to launch a 20TB HDD.

The main advantage of HAMR is the fact that it does not require the user to replace the PC with some other, more innovative one. A new type of hard disk can be connected to the machine and used with an old type of hard disk.

Teasers of two unannounced Samsung products have appeared on the Internet

Through the efforts of the famous Indian insider Ishan Agarwal, new information about two smartphones of the Korean manufacturer Samsung has been published. He posted images of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G and Galaxy Z Flip.

The insider claims that the company will use these posters during the official presentation event.

It is already known that tomorrow the company will show four new products: Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra. Smartphones of the S series will be equipped with screens of 6.2, 6.7 and 6.9 inches with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. All of them will also receive selfie cameras in small cutouts and Android 10. It is also said about equipping the entire line with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processors with 12 or 16 GB of RAM.

The Galaxy S20 will have a triple camera and a 4000 mAh battery. Galaxy S20 + 5G will start selling with quad camera and 4,500mAh battery.

The most advanced version with a 108MP sensor will support 100x digital zoom.

The line will begin sales on March 6.

Microsoft foldable device may soon debut

Over the past 3-4 weeks, there have been several leaks regarding the yet to be announced Microsoft's new product - Surface Duo. Therefore, journalists believe that soon the gadget can be presented. Moreover, recently it was seen in the hands of an unknown man.

Experts have noticed that the device received an LED flash on the right side of the display. In earlier versions of the product it was not there.

They think the Microsoft Surface Duo could start with a single camera. It is possible that the developers will abandon the main module. This is risky, since now many smartphones are equipped with blocks with multiple sensors.

It is possible that the Surface Duo's front-facing camera will receive unique post-processing algorithms, which will allow it to produce high-quality images.

Xiaomi has received a patent for the creation of a slider

The Chinese National Intellectual Property Office has granted Xiaomi a patent for a slider form factor smartphone. This was reported by Techiejerry three days ago.

The diagram shows that the specialists of the Chinese manufacturer intend to develop a device in which one display will slide out from under the other.

The images do not allow you to get an idea of all the sizes of the new product, but it is assumed that the product will be slightly thicker than existing smartphones.

It can also be seen that the developer's specialists intend to explore several types of device design. They suggest different ways of equipping the device with cameras.

It is not yet known about the presence of prototypes of such a device.
