Western gaming resource Gamespot has published an extensive interview with one of the founders of Ubisoft - Yves Guillemot. We will briefly describe what the head of the largest French gaming company said and what Yves Guillemot thinks the gaming industry will become in the coming years.

First, about the most important thing - the revival of the Splinter Cell series. The publisher is interested in maintaining its large brands (including the Prince of Persia series), which means that the continuation of Sam Fisher's adventures is definitely worth the wait. When? Yves Guillemot did not answer this question.

Note that on the eve of E3 2018, the largest Canadian retail chain Wallmart accidentally published a list of projects (among others there was a new Splinter Cell) that should be presented at a gaming conference in Los Angeles. The company's forecasts were almost completely confirmed, but we never saw the continuation of Splinter Cell. In all likelihood, Ubisoft postponed the announcement of the game for unknown reasons.

Separately, in an interview, we went over the most popular trend in video games today - "Battle Royale". Yves Guillemot compared "Battle Royal" with the "Capture The Flag" mode, which was added to every new project at the beginning of the 2000s and noted that the newly-fledged "Battle Royal" is very popular mainly among a young audience. Will Ubisoft be adding to their games like Rainbow Six Siege Battle Royal? Not. According to Yves Guillemot, the company's audience is more hardcore than in Fortnite, so buyers of Ubisoft products are simply not interested in Battle Royale.

Yves Guillemot and Ubisoft are huge fans of Nintendo games, so they were thrilled to have the opportunity to create a turn-based Mario + Rabbids game for Nintendo Switch. When asked whether it is worth waiting for new projects connecting the universe of Nintendo and Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot did not give a clear answer. As the saying goes: "wait and see."

The topic of the future of the gaming industry was also raised. Yves Guillemot believes that the next generation of game consoles may be the last, and the time will come for streaming services, with which it will be possible to play big-budget blockbusters on a weak PC or smartphone. At the same time, Yves Guillemot agrees that at the moment game steaming is far from ideal and can become really popular only when 5G Internet spreads around the world.

And the last thing Yves Guillemot said: after the release of Assassins Creed Odyssey, the series goes on a short-term vacation, so the new "Assassin" will not appear until 2020. This is due to the workload of Ubisoft development teams, not only developing their own games, but also actively helping each other.
