Speaker manufacturer Harman Kardon, controlled by Samsung, is finalizing a new kind of smart speaker with built-in voice assistant.

The brand announced a branded smart speaker of the premium segment, which will be presented at the next Berlin IFA 2018 exhibition.

At the beginning of development, users expected the new product to be produced using Samsung's Bixby neural network, although this assumption was not confirmed later. It so happens that the manufacturer Harman Kardon has developed smart speakers with all kinds of assistants except Bixby. The upcoming Harman Kardon Citation 500 will also have a built-in Google assistant.

The announced column cannot be called a classic version of similar devices. And one of the reasons for this is its cost - the starting price of the column is not declared at the budget level. According to the available information, the new product will be sold within $ 700, which, compared to other gadgets in the $ 200-250 range (for example, the Allure model with built-in Alexa or the Invoke device with Cortana) already makes it stand out. However, the smart speaker from Harman Kardon did not become the price leader among similar devices equipped with Google Assistant - the first place is still held by the BeoSound model from the manufacturer Bang & Olufsen, the cost of which is within $ 1800.

The new smart speaker is available in gray and black and supports 24-bit / 96 kHz audio streaming. The power rating of its stereo speakers reaches a limit of 200 watts. The device is controlled using voice commands, a smartphone with a dedicated application, and an LCD touch panel that is equipped with the top of the speaker. Additionally, the column can be used to control some elements inside smart homes.
