Intel has created a concept for the Honeycomb Glacier dual-screen gaming device. The Intel laptop presented by the company, in addition to the main one, is also equipped with an additional display, which is fixed at the desired angle. With the help of a camera that follows the user's gaze, switching between screens occurs with the movement of the eyes. The main 15.6-inch display is located in the usual place. It is complemented by a 12.3-inch screen, which is located where the keyboard of a standard laptop is most often located. So he moved the Honeycomb Glacier keyboard slightly, which in turn took the place of the touchpad.
Placing the auxiliary display in the plane of the keyboard is a well-known technique. However, unlike other devices, the Intel laptop has its own specifics. Its additional screen is movable. If desired, it can be lifted, steadily fixing itself in a certain position using a roller mechanism. The prototype does not lose balance thanks to the horizontal stand. The laptop is powered by an eight-core Intel proprietary chipset. The space behind the auxiliary display houses the cooling system.
For ease of operation, the dual-screen laptop has a Tobii camera that follows the user and captures their eye movements. Gaming Honeycomb Glacier activates the desired display after the user glances at it. This allows you to use different applications on two displays at the same time, for example, a social network on one, a work program on the other.
The Intel laptop shown as a concept is not yet planned by the manufacturer to enter the series. Most of the Honeycomb Glacier elements, including the sub display, are pre-assembled. At the same time, many Intel working prototypes develop over time into complete turnkey solutions.
