Even before its official release, the AMD processor was outperforming the 18-core Core i9 9980XE from another giant Intel in benchmarks. And this despite the fact that today the Intel representative is considered the most productive desktop chipsets in its class. So far, the further fate of the new product from AMD has not been fully determined: whether the processor will enter the series or remain at the level of a working prototype.
The Geekbench platform compared the two processors, providing test reports in single-core and multi-core operating modes. The newest AMD chip, which so far bears the name MS-7C34 without an official name, managed to overtake the Core i9 9980XE. In terms of the number of points scored, the new AMD, which has not yet been officially presented, scored more points in both single-core and multi-core tests.
The new AMD chipset operates at a base frequency of 3.3 GHz, and is capable of overclocking to a maximum of 5.2 GHz. By the way, another AMD processor and holder of three world records - the recently announced Ryzen 9 3950X has characteristics equal to 3.5 GHz and 4.7 GHz, respectively.
Another competition initiated by Geekbench with the participation of other processors from the two brands showed approximately equal results. Tested with Ryzen 7 3800X and Core i9-9900K. Thus, in the multi-core mode, the AMD processor scored more points than the Intel chip, but they swapped places during the single-core test.
Intel has already begun preparations for a price war to defend its position in a competitive market. Thus, the manufacturer deliberately reduces the prices of its processors for desktop devices by 10-15%. This is due to the actions of AMD, which is preparing the imminent release of the proprietary Ryzen 3000 line. The future Intel family under the name Ice Lake is only expected by next year, and this may help the manufacturer to keep its customers in competition with other brands. In the meantime, the company decided to reduce the cost of its Core i9-9900K, i7-9700K and i5-9600K solutions within the range of $ 25-75, continuing the policy of reducing prices to maintain its position.
