The popular publisher and developer of cult games Valve has decided to completely redesign the official logo. The font has remained the same, but the color scheme has been updated and now gravitates more towards warm shades in the style of Team Fortress 2. In addition, Gabe Newell's team announced that they are returning to their element - they will begin to develop new games. Of course, nobody forgets about Steam.
Recall that the last major game from Valve was Dota 2, released back in 2013. Many factors could have influenced the change in the company's priorities, for example, failures in the field of computer hardware. The idea with the Steam Machine, which positioned itself as an intermediate option between PC and console gaming, did not take off, so it’s not surprising to see on the company's updated website information that “Valve creates games, supports Steam and develops the software segment.”
The first sign of new Valve games will be Artifact, which ... will be just a card game with familiar characters from Dota 2. Well, no such announcement is expected from some of the most talented developers in the gaming industry. The same iconic Half-Life 2, for example, made it to our top of the best shooters of all time.
Another Valve game will be In the Valley of Gods. True, this is not the company's own development, but a new project from the creators of the atmospheric adventure Firewatch. Recently Valve has taken indie developers under its wing and will release all of their projects under its own name. We also hope that Valve will have a hand in creating In the Valley of Gods, in which case we will definitely get at least a good game.
And the main news: the projects presented above are only one of the few Valve games, other developments are still kept in the strictest confidence.
Who knows, maybe the long wait will finally end and we'll get Half-Life 3? We will not guess, you can expect anything from Valve. As a last resort, you can always wait for the unofficial Half-Life 3, which is already in development and even received the first gameplay videos.
