Evan McGregor to star in sequel to The Shining
Evan McGregor will star in the sequel to the cult horror movie The Shining, which will be based on a piece called Doctor Sleep. This is reported by the publication Deadline. The popular Scottish actor will play the role of the grown-up Danny Torrance. Note that the novel begins with the fact that Torrance suffers childhood trauma, which he received during the events at the Overlook Hotel into adulthood. He has become a kind of reflection of his father, with his outbursts of rage and addiction to alcohol that dulls pain, as well as the supernatural abilities demonstrated in The Shining. These powers return when he stops drinking and uses his gift to help the dying in the hospice. He makes a mental bond with a young girl which is the target of a mysterious group of people with similar abilities. Earlier it was reported that Mike Flanagan, the creator of such mystical movies as "Doubt" and "The Oculus", was appointed the scriptwriter and director of the sequel. At the time of this writing, the exact timing of this project has not been announced. The Shining movie was released in 1980.
