Gone with the Wind tops the Amazon Sales Rankings
The masterpiece of world cinema "Gone With the Wind" topped the Amazon sales ranking in the "Movies and TV Projects" section. As noted by Variety, this happened just a day after it became known that streaming service HBO Max has removed the picture from its catalog due to some "racist elements". The store currently offers a two-disc DVD - The 70th Anniversary Edition of Gone With the Wind, while Amazon Video offers the movie as a rental, for, and for purchase. As a reminder, HBO Max has decided to temporarily withdraw the iconic classics following an article by the lady screenwriter "12 Years a Slave" John Ridley, in which he stated that "the movie glorifies the pre-war South" and will spread " morbid stereotypes about blacks. " The streaming service was quick to claim that Gone With the Wind is a product of its time and reflects some of the ethnic and racial prejudices that, unfortunately, were common in American society." Note that the actress Olivia De Havilland, known to viewers for her role as Melanie from "Gone with the Wind", will turn 104 in July 2020.
