Vertu returns to the market with a luxury smartphone

One of the few recognized European smartphone manufacturers, Vertu, has every chance to return to the market after bankruptcy thanks to its new device - Aster P.

This is a rethought and deeply modernized version of the Aster device, which was previously announced.

What happened to the company

The company was founded back in 1998. In fact, it was a branch of Nokia and was intended for the production of expensive phones with advanced functionality. The analogy of creating luxury car brands would be appropriate here, for example, like Lexus at Toyota or Infinity at Nissan.

Vertu specialists have created several promising models that have had relative success in the market.

In 2012, Nokia began to have financial problems, as a result of which the Chinese took possession of the brand's assets. After some ordeals, Turkish billionaire Murat Hakan Uzan took over the Vertu company. She was on the verge of bankruptcy due to a large number of debts and several unrealized projects.

Thanks to financial injections, the company's business has improved slightly, all conditions have been created for the development of a new model.

Aster P should be a lifesaver for this company. Experts agree that a successful Turkish businessman will not allow a fiasco. The truth is, not everyone agrees on how they do business. Some consider Uzan to be a fraud. Whether it is so or not is up to others. The main thing is that Vertu continues its activity and pleases with the excellent products.

About the new product

Previously, this company produced smartphones, in which the functional part was the most ordinary, but the outward appearance was original. These were devices inlaid with precious stones, the cases of which were made of precious metals. In production, the skin of rare animals was actively used.

The savior of the Vertu Aster P is nothing new in terms of appearance.

Its body is made of titanium, covered with crocodile leather. They also use lizard skin for a change. Cover the back cover with it.

The AMOLED screen measures 4.9 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Its glass is made of sapphire, and one of the buttons has a ruby-like decoration.

No fingerprint reader. All the electronics are powered by the Snapdragon 660 chipset, which uses 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory.

The product has a slot for two SIM cards and a 3200 mAh battery.

Cameras and everything else

In the Vertu Aster P smartphone, the main camera has a resolution of 12 megapixels. This figure for a sensor installed in the front of the device is 20 megapixels. Probably, the developers think that selfies are more important for future owners.

The smartphone has a USB-C connector, supports NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 and dual band Wi-Fi.

Thanks to the fruitful cooperation established by the patron of the manufacturer, Nokia, the new product received the Android 8.1 operating system. It is not the newest, but one of the most advanced and well-functioning.

The device has the following geometric parameters: 149.8 x 71 x 10.1 mm, its weight is 220 grams.

There are several other interesting factors that distinguish the company's devices from others. For example, each SIM card slot has an individual hinged cover that covers it. On the back of these covers there are engravings in the form of the signature of the master who assembled the smartphone.

As for the color versions of the product body, there are not very many of them. Available in shades of black, gold and white.

The simplest configuration is priced at $ 5,000. The leather-trimmed and inlaid machines cost $ 14,000. The first orders will be filled on October 30th.
