Inside # 7.02: displays for smartphones from two Korean companies; Samsung Galaxy A70e; Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha; OPPO smart watch

In the seventh edition of the February insider's story, we will first tell you about the forward-looking vision of Samsung and LG engineers. Then we will discuss the nuances of equipping the yet unannounced Galaxy A70e and Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha smartphones. At the end of the review, we will find out the capabilities of the new fitness bracelet from ORRO.

Samsung and LG are working on portable displays for mobile devices

Displays of modern smartphones allow you to solve many problems. Their equipment and dimensions help with this. However, sometimes users would like to work with large screens. This is especially true for those who like to regularly view video content or edit something in text formats.

In such cases, it is good to have large matrices, for example, like laptops or tablets.

Some users do this, but soon they will be presented with an alternative.

ET News recently published a report according to which Samsung and LG are developing portable monitors. They can be connected to smartphones. The document refers to the "Cloud Tops" device that allows you to increase the screen space of a mobile device.

This idea is not new. A few years ago, Motorola developed a smartphone that could function with a laptop-style docking station.

The new technology was not widely used, but many companies tried to improve it.

The solution offered by Samsung and LG engineers implies only getting a big screen. The products will not have a keyboard, which indicates the need for touch input, since a mouse and a standard keyboard will not work here.

Insiders claim that one of the models will be named Samsung Dexbook, which may serve as indirect evidence of its support for the proprietary DeX software. This makes this unit compatible with Galaxy smartphones. They have a desktop-like interface.

ET News cited some technical data from Dexbook. It will have a 14.1-inch display, a 10,000 mAh battery and a weight of less than 1 kilogram.

LG's gadget was named Web Top. They prophesy the presence of a screen of the same size, weighing 600 grams and about 9 mm thick, as well as a 5000 mAh battery.

Experts assume that Dexbook and Web Top will receive Full HD resolution. Their market launch is scheduled for the third quarter of this year. The outbreak of the coronavirus in China may make adjustments to this process.

The first information about the Galaxy A70e has appeared

The first high-quality images of the lightweight version of the Samsung Galaxy A70e smartphone have been posted online. This is the merit of the authoritative insider OnLeaks, who is known for his truthful predictions.

Renders allow you to get the first data about the design of the device and find out some of its design features.

The device will be equipped with a classic 6.1-inch display with a drop-shaped notch at the top for the front camera. The main camera module was placed in the upper left corner of the rear panel. It consists of three sensors and a flash. There is a fingerprint scanner nearby. The Koreans have abandoned the subscreen method of placing it.

Music lovers will love the presence of a 3.5 mm audio jack on the top edge. The decision of engineers to equip the device with a micro-USB port, instead of the current USB Type-C, is controversial, but economical.

Two more physical buttons: power and volume control will be located on the right side of the smartphone. Also its geometric parameters became known: 156.8 x 76.45 x 9.35 mm.

Pricing for the Galaxy A70e and launch date are not yet known.

New patent suggests what a Xiaomi smartphone will look like

At the beginning of autumn last year, Xiaomi introduced the Mi Mix Alpha with a panoramic display. Its distinctive feature is the presence of a screen that occupies 180% of the entire external area. Then the president of the company said that the device will not be on sale soon and few will be able to purchase it, since the model will be released in limited edition. Not so long ago, the 91mobiles retailer found a Xiaomi patent dedicated to a simplified version of the Mi Mix Alpha, which is likely to go on sale.

The diagram shows that the device will receive a smaller matrix. Now its screen occupies the front and side panels. The back one is less busy here than in the previous version.

It is not yet clear how such a display can be useful to users in practice. This will certainly be announced during the presentation of the product.

ORRO smartwatch will receive an ECG monitor

Resource LetsGoDigital has published renders of a smartwatch manufactured by ORRO. The source claims that the images reflect the external essence of the product. They are based on the patent applications of a Chinese developer.

It is said that the gadget will be taught to determine the user's pulse, register his ECG. He will also be able to track sleep and physical activity.

Thus, the novelty will be able to do everything that many similar fitness bracelets are now doing. An interesting nuance of equipping smart watches will be the presence of a microphone and a speaker. This will allow the device, independently of a smartphone, to receive phone calls and make them on its own.

The item is not expected to cost more than $ 300.
