Rockstar has officially confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 - Red Dead Online's multiplayer mode will kick off today. However, it should be borne in mind that to reduce the load on the servers, the developers decided to launch Red Dead Online in several stages. For example, today only buyers of the Ultimate version of the game will be able to try out the multiplayer mode, while other players will have to wait a bit.

Red Dead Online launch time

Red Dead Online takes the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as a basis and puts it on the rails of multiplayer. Players will have access to the entire map, which can be explored both in the company of loyal comrades and in splendid isolation. Unlike the story mode, the game will not have a fixed character and each player will be able to independently customize the gender, appearance and parameters of the protagonist.

The developers have confirmed that players will be able to form their own camp and get lost in gangs of up to 8 people, hunt animals, fish, look for treasures, attack nearby cities and rival gangs, compete with other players and even get unique missions from characters from single player campaign. A single server can host up to 32 players.

In many ways, our predictions about Red Dead Online came true, but Rockstar was still able to surprise: they are planning to release a separate co-op campaign with a story and cutscenes. Apparently, the developers are expanding the concept of the heist system from GTA Online.
