Some time after the distribution of advertising teasers and the emergence of intelligence about the upcoming novelty, Xiaomi finally officially presented its flagship Mi 9. The announced Xiaomi smartphone became the next generation of the Mi line, featuring top parameters. This year's model looks a lot like last year's, but differs in a circular notch on the display and the number of cameras has grown to three.

The presented smartphone Xiaomi Mi 9 is powered by Snapdragon 855 - the latest model of Qualcomm processor. The model is compatible with LTE, but does not support the 5G standard. The manufacturer offers three assembly options, differing in the amount of internal and RAM. At the same time, the junior representative of the new line received the same display, chipset and battery as the top-end configuration.

Screen and design

The smartphone is protected by a proprietary 6th generation Gorilla Glass coating. The older model Xiaomi Mi 9, called the Explorer Edition, just like last year's Explorer Edition, has a translucent rear surface that allows you to see the internal structure of the device.

The screen with a fingerprint scanner, surrounded by thin frames, occupies about 91% of the frontal surface. Instead of a horizontal cutout, the Mi 9 has a compact spherical recess for the front camera.

Optics and software

The newest Xiaomi Mi smartphone is equipped with a three-module main camera. The 48MP main unit is equipped with pixel binning technology for more detailed images in low light conditions. Additional modules for 16 and 12 MP are responsible for focusing and optical zoom.

The DxOMark rating highly rated the camera of the new Xiaomi smartphone. With 107 points, Mi 9 turned out to be the manufacturer's best camera phone and took an honorable third place in the ranking after Huawei's P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro, ahead of Samsung and Apple devices.

The front camera module supports 24MP resolution. Apart from portrait photos, the lens is responsible for facial identification, but does not support 3D scanning.

The smartphone comes with a pre-installed version of Android 9 Pie, supplemented by the MIUI 10 shell, typical for many Xiaomi devices.

Technical features

Mi 9 received the top-end eight-core Snapdragon 855 chipset, which ultimately influenced its high scores in the AnTuTu ranking. So far, the new Xiaomi smartphone is the leader in terms of 387,851 points among other mobile devices.

To accelerate performance, the smartphone is supplemented with artificial intelligence components. In addition, the new product is equipped with a proprietary Game Turbo system, which improves the performance of the video card for gaming applications by 20%.

The smartphone has received an updated power system. Mi 9 supports the wireless battery recovery standard along with classic wired charging.

The new flagship Xiaomi from the position of "recommended price - filling" turned out to be cheaper than competing models with similar characteristics. For example, Samsung's most affordable Galaxy S10e is priced twice as expensive.
