The Ford automobile company has always been committed to innovation, helping to create not only safe cars, but also simplify the work of the carmaker's employees. Among the cutting edge Ford developments are EcsoVest exoskeletons, developed in collaboration with Ekso Bionics. The exoskeletons have been successfully tested and are designed to reduce stress on the shoulders, arms and spine of workers.
This year 15 largest Ford plants in Europe, South and North America will receive ready-made exoskeleton samples. Autonomous, lightweight (4.3 kilograms) and do not require long-term adjustment, the device is suitable for people of different build and height (from 152 to 193 centimeters). The owner of the exoskeleton, if necessary, in several movements can adjust the air springs, which add from 2.3 to 6.8 kilograms of lifting force per arm.
The eco-skeleton is especially valuable in those cases when an employee needs to work for a long time with arms outstretched. Automobile assembly at concerns is not the only area of application for EcsoVest exoskeletons. The devices can be used in the construction industry, or when storing products in logistics centers.
