Samsung has met the law adopted at the end of 2019, according to which USA software must be preinstalled on electronic devices imported into the country by foreign manufacturers. The Korean company has agreed to the new requirements effective July 1, 2020. The brand has no plans to leave the USA market. The manufacturer is ready to adapt its work in accordance with the new rules and continue cooperation with USA partners. Samsung representatives recalled that the company has already interacted with domestic developers in terms of installing their programs, in particular, we are talking about Yandex search engine and Mail.ru mail, which appeared as part of the Korean brand's smartphone programs. Two of the largest Chinese manufacturers, Xiaomi and Huawei, have joined Samsung, and they also agree to install USA software in their gadgets. How the law is implementedThe bill, according to which the pre-installation of USA software on smartphones of foreign manufacturers became mandatory, was signed in early December 2019. In practice, its implementation will take place in several stages, each of which will affect certain types of devices. The first stage will start on July 1, when the law is legally binding. From that day on, new requirements for pre-installation of domestic software will apply to smartphones and tablets. A year later, from July 1, 2021, the rules will become mandatory for laptops and PCs, and from July 1, 2022, smart TVs will fall under the new requirements.
The list of USA applications that must be installed from July 1, 2020 includes domestic search engines, browsers and map services. In 2021, they will be supplemented with domestic antiviruses, email clients, payment services, instant messengers and social networks. A year later, in 2022, the list will be supplemented by USA software for viewing available TV channels and audiovisual services. Thinking AppleUnlike colleagues, Apple has not yet decided on its further policy in connection with the new rules of mandatory pre-installation of domestic software. The company had previously warned that the adoption of the relevant law would signal a revision of its relations with USA partners. Since the signing of the bill, Apple has not shown any reaction - the corporation did not agree with the new requirements, but also did not announce its withdrawal from the USA market.
It is known that the "apple" company does not like interference with its gadgets, including any changes in their software base. Apple ships devices to markets with a full suite of proprietary software without third-party applications. At the same time, sometimes the company makes concessions and adapts smartphones and other electronics to the requirements of a particular state.
