As of December 31, 2017, you will no longer be able to upgrade from older versions of windows to windows 10 for free using any of the previously working methods.

The free upgrade option officially ended in July 2016. But for now, you can use the Disabled Update feature. Which allows you to download the installer from the official website and update your OS to Windows 10.

Now on the Microsoft website in the corresponding section it is indicated that this functionality will stop working after December 31, 2017.

No more free Windows 10

In fact, closing this loophole will not do much damage to the spread of Windows 10. Everyone who wanted to update has already been updated. And all new PCs and laptops only come with this version of the OS from Microsoft.

Nonetheless, closing this loophole marks the end of Microsoft's unprecedented generosity campaign for virtually giving away its new OS for free.

It is difficult to say whether ethereal cheese worked or not. But nevertheless, Windows 7 has not yet surpassed the top ten.

NetMarketShare notes that Windows 10's PC market share has grown from 9% in November 2015 to 29.3% in October 2017, but Windows 7 is still the dominant version of Windows with 46.6% of the PC operating system market.
