PC users are definitely lucky. They have not only access to the most powerful hardware, but also the largest library of games on all platforms, which has become simply immense over the decades of the gaming industry.

But, even swimming in honey, we will still find something to complain about. For example, we do not have access to many cool games that are released exclusively for consoles. Fortunately, this may soon change: enthusiasts from AlexAltea have announced the development of the first real Sony PlayStation 4 emulator.

Orbital is a new word in PS emulation

The project was named Orbital. Now the program is in an early stage and only allows you to download the PlayStation 4 shell itself. For now, you can forget about launching any games or the console interface, but in its current form the emulator is already a solid base for further development. Perhaps one day he will allow him to tirelessly "hack" in Horizon Zero Dawn or Uncharted 4?

This emulator needs a top-end computer

Of course, the computer that Orbital will run on must be powerful - today the system requirements for the emulator include an AVX / AVX2-capable processor and at least 16GB of RAM . At the current stage of development, the requirements for a video card are difficult to formulate, but we can assume that GeForce GTX 1080 is the minimum that a gamer should count on.

You can download PS emulator now

Orbital users, if they wish, can experience Orbital as it stands. The corresponding files are available for download on GitHub . But you shouldn't set high expectations - the current version is very far from the final one and is not intended for the end user. Moreover, in order for the program to run at all, it will need to be compiled yourself.

In general, Orbital today is a program for advanced users. For now, gamers have no choice but to wait and hope that Sony's legal department will not ban the development of such software until the emulator is "digestible".
