Image The Library of Congress has published a list of twenty-five films that have been listed on the National Film Register . To date, under the protection of the American state are films and digital copies of already 700 films, which are of particular cultural and historical significance.

This year, Library of Congress has deposited pictures from the silent era, documentaries and short films, independent films and animated hits. The 2016 sample managed to cover 95 years of cinema history: the oldest film on the list was "The Life of an American Firefighter" in 1903, and the youngest was "Academy Rushmore", which was released in 1998.
