Paramount found a modern Robin Hood

Image While work on the fifth Transformers is in full swing, Paramount management is thinking about creating a franchise of a completely different kind. News portal Deadline reports that the studio has acquired the rights to film the book series The Saint by Leslie Charteris .

Back in 1997, a film of the same name was released with Val Kilmer and Elizabeth Shue in the lead roles, which was distributed by Paramount . The film earned at the worldwide box office $ 118 million .

The original books were published from 1928 to 1963. Their main character is Simon Templer , better known as Saint , - Robin Hood of the modern criminal world, whose targets were usually dirty politicians, drug dealers and other criminals .

Back in the 60s, the series of novels was adapted for British television, and the lead role in the series was played by the legendary Roger Moore. Paramount bosses believe that the story of Simon Templer will be more relevant than ever today in light of the escalating problems of terrorism and corruption.
