Casting: Pentagon Secrets and the Dangerous Road Through the Snow
The cast of Steven Spielberg's new project has been replenished with an impressive list of new names. As it became known to the portal The Hollywood Reporter , the leading roles, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, were joined by Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) in the film about secret Pentagon documents, Bob Odenkerk (Better Call Saul), Alison Brie (Mad Men), Bradley Whitford (Get Out), Carrie Kuhn (Fargo), David Cross (The American Family), Bruce Greenwood (American Crime Story), Tracy Letts (Homeland), Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad), Matthew Reese (The Americans), Michael Stoolbarg ("Fargo") and Zach Woods("Good wife").The film, written by Elizabeth Hannah, was originally known as The Post but is now called The Papers . The inspiration for the picture was the publication in the newspaper The Washington Post in 1971 about the scandalous investigation of America's role in the Vietnam War. The article described a massive government cover-up that spanned four decades and four presidents. Publisher The Washington Post Catherine Graham (Streep) and editor of Ben Bradley (Hanks) have made a bold decision to support their colleagues at The New York Times and to publish classified Pentagon documents, which were given to reporters by US State Department analyst Daniel Ellsberg . In this way, they opposed an unprecedented attempt by the Nixon administration's administration to restrict the First Amendment to the US Constitution by banning the publication of secret archives.   Filming began last week in New York. The film will be released on limited release on December 22 . Meanwhile, according to the information portal Deadline , Nicolas Cage ("Faceless", "The Rock") has decided to add another thriller to his piggy bank. The actor intends to play the main role in the film Mandy . Panos Kosmatos (On the Other Side of the Black Rainbow) will direct the project, and Oscar-nominated Johan Johannsson (Arrival) will write the music.  The film will be produced by XYZ Films , Umedia and SpectreVision , which is owned by Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah and Josh Waller. The film will be set in the middle of the desert in 1983. The main character is Red Miller , completely overwhelmed and depressed by the loss of his beloved. He hunts for a religious sect composed of mentally unstable people, which is to blame for the death of his beloved. “ Panos Kosmatos is one of the most promising young filmmakers who could become the Stanley Kubrick of our day,- noted Daniel Noah . -A Nicolas Cage is a real god for those of us who grew up in his classic roles. We're incredibly thrilled that both of them will be taking part in this surreal, heavy metal story with battle axes and demonic bikers. ” The film is currently in pre-production and is set to start filming this summer in Belgium.  Oscar Award Winner Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind, Requiem for a Dream) will join David Diggs (Annealed) in the Pilot Episode of Through the Snow ... The project is a futuristic thriller based on the 2013 film of the same name directed by Pong Joon-ho, starring Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton. Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds, The Emerald City) is the scriptwriter and showrunner of the project. The hour-long pilot will be directed by Scott Derrickson, director of the blockbuster Doctor Strange. Events will unfold seven years after the world turned into an icy wasteland. The remnants of humanity are forced to live in a giant, constantly moving train that travels around the globe. This train is a clear example of class struggle and social injustice.  Connelly is cast as Melanie Cavill , a first class passenger who acts as the "Voice of the Train" in charge of the daily announcements. Unlike other privileged passengers who neglect the lower class, Melanie is extremely interested in them. David Diggs will play Leighton Well , a prisoner who is forced to take part in a struggle that could affect the lives of everyone on the train. Jennifer Connelly was last seen on the big screens in the crime drama American Pastoral, which marked Ewan McGregor's directorial debut. But the actress did not appear on small screens for a long time, among her works for TV - "Heart of Justice" in 1992 and the mini-series "Street" shot in 2000.
