While Paul Feig prepares a female version of Ghostbusters for the big screen, Sony continues to expand the iconic franchise.|
According to Collider , Sony Animation has begun work on an animated series called Ghostbusters: Ecto Force to complement the Hunters for ghosts ". It will focus on the generation of hunters from 2050 who hunt supernatural creatures around the world with the support of local teams.
This isn't the first time hunters have hit the small screens: Following the success of the 1984 film, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis created The Real Ghost Busters , which has delighted audiences for five years.
The new show is curated by one of the creators of the franchise, Ivan Reitman , and his company Ghost Corps . Even before Feig started rebooting the film series, Reitman was working on various ideas for expanding the universe. There was even information that the producer would shoot his own remake of "Ghostbusters" , but Sony abandoned this idea. The studio is also working on a full-length cartoon, the shooting of which is entrusted to Fletcher Moles.
The major's management plans to release the animated series in early 2018.
