Golden Tomato 2017 laureates

Image Hollywood continues to take stock of the past film year. This time, the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes published its list of the best pictures of 2016.

The rating of a movie on a popular portal is calculated based on the ratio of positive and negative reviews. The right to compete for the prestigious " Golden Tomato " award went to films that received at least 40 reviews from the world's leading film critics last year.

The most highly acclaimed film of the wide North American distribution was the animated " Zootopia ", which received 98% positive reviews. Only five out of more than two hundred critics left negative reviews for one of the highest-grossing film projects of 2016.

The main hit of the limited release was recognized as the New Zealand comedy " Hunt for the Savages ", which has a 97% rate. It is worth noting that to sum up the results of the year, Rotten Tomatoes experts use a special formula that takes into account both the film's rating and the number of reviews. It is for this reason that " Hunting Savages " has managed to bypass the Franco-German drama "The Future", which boasts a 100% rating, but has fewer reviews.
