Backgammon, money, three barrels

Image Lakeshore Entertainment will tell viewers about one of the most mysterious crimes in Boston history. According to Variety , the Californian studio has acquired the rights to Chris Bremner's script " Blackfriars ", which was added to the Black List of Hollywood's Best Unrealized Ideas late last year.

In the center of the plot of the crime comedy will be a Boston police officer and a former criminal, who decide to swipe the employees of the local district attorney's office. Reportedly, the events of the film will somehow be connected with the massacre at the " Blackfriars " bar, which took place on June 28, 1978.

At two o'clock in the morning, three armed men broke into an Irish bar in downtown Boston, who found the owner of a pub and four of his friends playing backgammon. The criminals riddled them with bullets, but did not take $ 15 thousand from the open safe. Traces of cocaine and marijuana were found in the bar. So the investigators had a version that the crime could have been the result of a showdown by local drug dealers. One of the suspects in his organization was considered crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger, to whom the movie "Black Mass" was recently dedicated. However, the involvement of the famous gangster in the murders in " Blackfriars " was ultimately never proven, since the police were unable to find their perpetrators.

The director's chair will be taken by Lee Toland Krieger , who has already worked with Lakeshore Entertainment on The Age of Adaline.
