The new Murder on the Orient Express reminded Hollywood bosses that Agatha Christie's work is an inexhaustible source of ideas. Studio 20th Century Fox, apparently, was satisfied with the results of Kenneth Branagh's film at the box office and decided to film another famous novel by the writer - Death on the Nile.|
It is expected that Branagh will take the director's chair of the film and will again play the role of detective Hercule Poirot. Officially, only screenwriter Michael Green has been assigned to the project, for whom this year turned out to be very successful: not only Murder on the Orient Express, but also Logan, Blade Runner 2049 and the series American Gods are on his account .
Like Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile is one of the detective queen's most popular novels. In the book, Poirot again faces death, but already during his vacation in Egypt, when a love triangle causes a terrible tragedy. Young and beautiful Linnet Ridgway was shot in the head. She had everything until the unknown took her life, and Poirot needs to find out who dared to kill the girl so cruelly.
The novel "Death on the Nile" has already reached the screens twice. The first time was in 1978, when Peter Ustinov played Poirot in the film by John Guillermin. Then a stellar cast gathered on the set of the film, which, in addition to Ustinov, included Mia Farrow, Bette Davis, Maggie Smith, Angela Lansbury and David Niven. Also, the work served as the basis for one of the episodes of the British TV series "Poirot".
