Ron Howard to complete Han Solo spin-off
For a short time Millennium Falcon was left without a pilot. Just yesterday we reported that the management of Disney and Lucasfilm fired Phil Lord and Chris Miller as directors of an unnamed project about Han Solo , and today the site The Hollywood Reporter reports that Ron Howard has been appointed as the new director of the Star Wars spin-off.Howard was among the main contenders that the producers of the film series were considering to replace Lord and Miller . The latter, we recall, did not agree with the head of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy and the old-timer of the franchise, screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan. And although the change of director for projects of this scale is not a unique phenomenon, the case with the solo album Han Solo has practically no precedents. Filming began in February, and Lord and Miller had about three and a half weeks left on set. According to the source, Howard plans to meet with the blockbuster cast in the near future, as well as carefully study the work done by his predecessors.  The Oscar winner for A Beautiful Mind, Ron Howard has previously worked with George Lucas and Lucasfilm . First, the filmmaker appeared as an actor in Lucas himself in American Graffiti, and then realized the idea of the latter, filming the fantasy "Willow". Also Howard in one of the interviews admitted that once Lucas invited him to lead the filming of "The Phantom Menace". And yet, the latest works of Ron do not inspire much confidence - both "Inferno" and "In the Heart of the Sea" did not meet the expectations of the producers assigned to them.
