Casting: Replacement for Dawson and the Return of Mercury
A month ago, we reported that Rosario Dawson has joined the " New Mutants " spin-off "X-Men" team. However, the portal The Hollywood Reporter managed to find out that the actress decided to leave the project, and the creators of the blockbuster have already picked up a replacement for her - the role of Dawson passed to the star of the series "Queen of the South" Alice Brahe .Filming will be led by Josh Boone (The Fault in the Stars), and he will tell about a group of young mutants who are trying to cope with their superpowers, and at the same time escape from an institution where they are held against their will. Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Henry Zaga, Blue Hunt and Charlie Heaton are included in the newly formed team of mutants. Braga got the role of Dr. Cecilia Reyes , who herself is a mutant capable of generating a protective biofield around herself, and eventually becomes a mentor for teenagers. The world premiere of the spin-off is set for April 13 next year, so Boone plans to start filming in a couple of weeks.  The news about the X-Men franchise does not end there. The same source reports that Evan Peters will return to the role of Peter Maximoff , aka the mutant Mercury , in the movie “ Dark Phoenix ". Also, the cast of the project included Canadian Lamar Johnson ("With all his might"), but there is no information about his hero yet. Peters and Johnson will join the franchise's veterans such as James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult. Viewers in the sequel will also see the young talents presented in "Apocalypse" - Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Cody Smith-McPhee. The plot of the future film will focus on Jean Gray , whose abilities will become incredibly dangerous for the team and all of humanity. The blockbuster director's chair was given to Simon Kienberg, who has been a longtime producer and screenwriter of the film series.  The aspiring British actor Fien Whitehead , soon to hit the big screens in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk, will star in Caravan . The project will be a sequel to the thriller "Victoria" directed by Sebastian Schipper. Whitehead will play a rebellious teenager who stole a motor home from his stepfather in order to travel to France in search of his own father. The start of filming is scheduled for August.
