AMC and Odenkerk talk about cocaine columnist

Image Following the success of the mini-series "The Night Manager" ( The Night Manager ), based on the novel by John Le Carre, the management of the channel AMC is launching another project of a similar format. The new drama will be based on the memoir of the journalist David Carr , titled The Night Of The Gun ( The Night of the Gun ). The information site The Wrap writes about this.

The project will be produced by Sean Ryan ( Lie to Me ), who will also take on the adaptation of the original work. Eileen Myers ("Extremes" / Last Resort ) is writing the script for the new series with Ryan , and Bob Odenkirk (“ You'd better call Saul. ”/ Better Call Saul ).

The talented and erudite David Carr was a columnist for the New York Times . In his autobiography, he talked about his addiction to cocaine. The only thing that made him go to rehab and return to normal life was the threat of deprivation of parental rights. Carr passed away tragically last February.

“I read David's book right after it went to press and was very impressed, says Odenkerk . -This is a story of survival, full of pain, journalistic urge for justice, truth about addictions and lies. It also describes two little girls who saved David's life. Sean Ryan has rediscovered this true story of the antihero of our time. Hopefully we can do justice to the intelligence and contradictory nature of Carr .
