Both the novel The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty and its full-length adaptation are still extremely popular today. One of the sources of inspiration for the writer was the image of an exorcism expert, father Malachi Martin . Now his book, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter , is being sent to the screens.A promising young film studio Penchant Entertainment acquired the rights to film and television adaptation of Martin's book Hostage to the Devil: The Possession and Exorcism of Five Contemporary Americans ( "Hostages of the Devil: Five Cases of Exorcism and Possession in America Today" ). Producers Erin Eggers (Hoax), Chase Hudson (Hijacked) and Matthew Porter plan to work simultaneously on several projects that will be screen versions of different parts of the work. The former Jesuit Malachi Martin is a priest who criticized the Catholic Church and became an expert in the field of exorcism. The Devil's Hostages was first published in 1976. The book is about the battle between the holy father and the demon, about how personal this struggle can become, stretching out for a whole life.
