Fear your neighbor

Image Annapurna Television , the television arm of one of the fastest growing Hollywood studios, Annapurna Pictures , is preparing a series called The Changeling ( Substitution*) as reported by Deadline . However, you should not confuse it with the 1980 and 2008 full-length films of the same name. The new project will be based on the recently published novel by Victor LaValle , which is a modern version of the changeling legends, in which horror, fantasy and realism are intertwined.

After the disappearance of his father Apollo Kagwe , only strange dreams and a box of books remained. Now the main character has become a father himself - he and his wife Emma are just getting used to the new status of parents for them, but fatigue and irritation sometimes take over. Apollo dreams are returning and Emma is acting strange and seems to be suffering from postpartum depression. It soon becomes clear that the problems of the new mother are much more serious than they seem. Before her husband can help her, the woman does something terrible and disappears ...

This is how the odyssey of the protagonist through the wonderful world begins. After meeting with a mysterious stranger claiming to have information about Emma , Apollo finds himself on a lost island on the East River, in a cemetery, in a forest where everyone is still alive legends, and finally visits a place that was forever lost to him ...

Those who have already read the novel LaValle claim that the author managed to create a dark tale about New York, full of magic and loss, mythology and secrets, love and madness. The head of Annapurna Television Sue Nagle ("The Outcast") will deal with the development of the teleadaptation. The company also has an ambitious project from the Coen brothers called The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, which recently took refuge on Netflix , and the Today Will Be Different miniseries starring Julia Roberts.
