Hellfighters Rise from the Ashes on History
Once the studio Sony together with Will Smith's company Overbrook Entertainment planned to transfer to the big screens the graphic novel by Max Brooks The Harlem Hellfighters ( " Hellfighters of Harlem " ). However, three years have passed since then, and there has been no progress in the work on the project.Therefore, it is not surprising that the company Smith decided to change the format of the film adaptation - now the original source will be adapted not for cinema, but for television. The upcoming mini-series already has a home - it will be sheltered by the History Channel . The script for the six-episode drama will be directed by Jeremy Passmore and Andre Fabrizio . For them, the new show will be the first experience of working on television, since before that the duo wrote lyrics only for films, among them - San Andreas Rift, Prince and The Elusive. This original graphic novel is based on a true story and follows the 369th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army, an African American unit that fought in Europe during World War I. It is noteworthy that the regiment spent more time on the battlefield than any other American unit, despite the then racial prejudices. Soldiers more than once had to face discrimination, not only in war, but also at home, where they returned as heroes. However, the Hellfighters of Harlem still managed to change the attitude of fellow citizens towards African American soldiers.
