In the mid-1980s, the firm managed to strike a deal with manufacturers of goods for schoolchildren, after which its business took off dramatically. A few years later, writing instruments, pencil cases and backpacks of almost every American child began to adorn the signature psychedelic drawings of Lisa Frank Inc.
