The director intends to bring his new film The House That Jack Built to Cannes. The tape tells the story of a serial killer played by Matt Dillon ("Pharmacy Cowboy"), and about his more than ten years of criminal career. The victims of the maniac will be Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction), Sophie Grobel (Murder), and Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road). The film, which began filming this week, has a budget of 8.7 million euros . The director describes the future project as the most traditional of all that he has released. Initially, Trier intended to create a series of the same name, but later decided to transform it into a film.

During a press conference on the drama Melancholy at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, Lars von Trier made a shocking statement. When asked about his German origins, the great brawler admitted that to a certain extent he understands Hitler and sympathizes with the Nazis. He later stated that it was a joke and apologized for his remarks. Despite this, since then not a single work of the director has been presented in Cannes.
