Selfies banned at Cannes Film Festival

The organizers of the 71st International Cannes Film Festival announced two important innovations. Firstly, celebrities are no longer allowed to take selfies while walking along all kinds of "red carpets", and, secondly, special screenings of movies for the press, which took place before the official premieres, have been canceled.

As reported by Deadline. the announcement was made in an interview with Le Film Fran & ccedil; ais by the president of the festival, Thierry Fremault. Note that previously, selfies that were fond of celebrities were considered just bad form, but the official ban on them will be introduced for the first time. As for the press screenings, before they were organized on the morning of the premiere, now, according to Fremo, media representatives will be able to watch movies only simultaneously with the guests and participants of the festival, just in a different place.

The latest reform is most likely due to the reluctance of the festival management to lose viewers at the premiere screenings. Cannes movie critics are considered one of the most picky, and often even before the official screening of movies, they manage to create such an impressive negative "sundress" that screenings are held in half-empty halls.

The 71st Cannes Film Festival will be held from 8 to 19 May 2018.
