”Mamma MIA!” will receive a sequel
The film company Universal has prepared a great surprise for the fans of the famous Swedish quartet ABBA . According to the Deadline edition, the Hollywood studio has officially launched the second part of the music tape " Mamma MIA! ".The original film was based on the musical of the same name, which at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries thundered on the stages of theaters in London's West End and New York Broadway. The main roles in the 2008 film were performed by such movie stars as Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard and Amanda Seyfred. Although the picture did not cause much delight from critics, it managed to become a real hit in the box office. " Mamma MIA! " earned almost $ 610 million at the worldwide box office on a rather modest budget of $ 52 million , which allowed it to become the highest grossing musical film in stories. Phyllida Lloyd's tape held the title for nine years, until Disney's Beauty and the Beast took over from her.  Reportedly, the sequel to the musical will be titled Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! . Studio Universal intends not only to return to the screens all the key characters of the first film, but also to introduce several new colorful characters into the plot. Fans of musicals will have the opportunity to hear many songs by the group ABBA , which were not used in the soundtrack of the 2008 tape. At the same time, the bosses of Universal have already hinted that the stars of the film can also perform a couple of musical compositions from the first part as an encore. The sequel will be written and directed by Ol Parker . The Briton has already tried his hand at directing, but he is known to the general public primarily as a talented author. Peru Parker owns both films in the Marigold Hotel series. Filming of the second part of " Mamma MIA !" will be held on the picturesque Greek island of Skopelos.  The Universal studio will be supported by the film companies Littlestar Productions and Playtone . The world premiere of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! is scheduled for July 20, 2018 .
