Casting: Roberts will fall asleep, McAvoy will be stuck in Sarajevo
As it became known to the information portal The Hollywood Reporter , Julia Roberts ("Stepmother") will play the main role in the film adaptation of the bestselling novel by American writer Cynthia Swanson under the title The Bookseller .The events unfold in the 1960s. The main character is a single woman named Kitty Miller who runs a bookstore with her best friend Frida . However, when Kitty falls asleep, she becomes a mother of three with a loving husband, an exquisite home, and good friends. At some point, the border between real life and dreams begins to blur, so a woman has to find out which of everything that happens is real, and which exists only in her imagination.  The film will be produced by Julia Roberts and her company Red Om Films , as well as Jonathan Rubenstein from Crystal City . The filmmakers' next step will be to find a screenwriter who will adapt the novel for the big screen. James McAvoy ("X-Men: First Class") will play in the film Escape , the script of which was written by Vanya Escher and was included in the notorious "Black List" in 2016. Colm McCarthy will be the director of the project. Escape is the debut work of Escher , based on the experience of his family, who lived in Sarajevo before the collapse of the country in 1992. This is a bitter and heartbreaking true storyof a professor ( McAvoy ) who got stuck in Sarajevo as the city turned into an explosive battlefield. He decided to stay and continue teaching, sacrificing his own safety. As the unrest grew, the hero's opportunities to return to his family became less and less, so he had to fight to get out of the chaos reigning in the circle.  “This is an incredibly touching story of Vanya's father about how heroic the escape of a civilian from a conflict zone for his family can be,- shared the director of the future film Colm McCarthy . -The things described in the script are very universal - how humor helps people stay sane despite all the difficulties, and how a promise given by a father to his son can be a powerful incentive to fight. And last year the dramatic horror film "New Era Z" with Glenn Close and Gemma Arterton, shot under his direction, was released on the big screens. James McAvoy was last seen in the thriller "Split", which grossed $ 275 million at the worldwide box office.
