Twin Peaks star Kyle McLachlan has joined Cate Blanchett and Jack Black in the adaptation of Houses with a Clock on the Wall, reports Deadline.|
Eric Kripke wrote the screenplay based on the Gothic novel of the same name by John Bellairs. The plot introduces the reader to an orphaned ten-year-old boy who discovered a magical and dangerous world in his uncle's old house. The book has become one of the few works by the author translated into foreign languages.
McLachlan will play Isaac Isard, the first owner of the house. This year, the actor returned to his roles in the revived Twin Peaks and the next season of Portlandia.
Meanwhile, Ken Marino's new project Dog Days has taken over American actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens (Powerless). Previously, the cast included Jack Black and Nina Dobrev, who gained popularity after filming The Vampire Diaries. Hudgens will play Tara, a lost barista who finds support from furry four-legged friends.
Filming will take place in Los Angeles, and the film is set to premiere next year.
And in New Orleans this week, Netflix will bring together Chevy Chase, Richard Dreyfuss, Andy McDowell, Lewis Black, Kate Micucci and Chris Parnell to shoot The Last Laugh. At the center of the narrative is the story of talent manager Al Hart, who returns to his charge after 50 years. Although Buddy Green gave up his career as a comedian for his family, Al convinces him to try his luck and tour the cities of America. So the hero of the scene gets the last chance to feel the taste of life, which he once abandoned.
