Professor Gibson and Mad Penn
Almost 20 years have passed since Mel Gibson first spoke about the adaptation of the bestseller The Professor and the Madman ( The Professor and the Madman ). Now another Hollywood star is ready to help him in this - the actor Sean Penn .Gibson acquired the rights to film adaptation of Simon Winchester's book back in 1998. According to The Hollywood Reporter , Penn is in talks to join Gibson on the set and play a major role. Initially, Mel himself planned to take the director's chair, but eventually transferred this authority to Farhad Safinia ("Apocalypse"). The latter also wrote the script. Professor James Murray ( Gibson ), who in 1857 was appointed editor of the Oxford English Dictionary, one of the most ambitious projects of the time, will be at the center of the tape. Penn will play Dr. William Chester Minor , who made an invaluable contribution to the creation of the dictionary despite the fact that he was in a hospital for the mentally ill and was previously convicted of murder.  Mel Gibson is currently preparing for release his last-ever directorial work, the war drama "For reasons of conscience", and as an actor he will soon be seen in the action movie "Bloodfather".
