The Mother of Dragons will board the Millennium Falcon

Image Disney and Lucasfilm Studios continue to add to the cast of the yet untitled Star Wars spin-off, starring Han Solo .

In May of this year, Hollywood studios chose from several thousand applicants for the role of the famous smuggler Alden Ehrenreich, and a month ago it became known that Donald Glover will appear in the image of Lando Calrissian in the upcoming blockbuster. Now the filmmakers have found the female lead. The official site of the cult space saga has announced that Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has joined the cast of Han Solo .

According to Variety , Kirsi Clemons, Jessica Henwick and Adria Archona were screened alongside Clark in London. Casting for the spin-off is under the strictest secrecy, and so Hollywood insiders are still at a loss to say whether Emilia has got exactly the role for which Tessa Thompson, Zoe Kravitz and Naomi Scott began fighting last month. Representatives of Disney and Lucasfilm prefer to keep the name of the heroine Clark a secret from viewers for now.

For her work on the television adaptation of the fantasy cycle A Song of Ice and Fire , Emilia was nominated three times for an Emmy . Her career in the world of big cinema is also developing successfully. Last year, she played Sarah Connor in the fifth installment of the Terminator franchise, and this summer helped to become the box office hit of Me Me Me.

The Star Wars spin-off is set to unfold between episodes 3 and 4 of the George Lucas saga. Rumor has it that viewers will have a chance to learn how Han Solo and his faithful partner Chewbacca became the owners of the Millennium Falcon spaceship.

Directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord expect to begin filming as early as January next year. The premiere of the solo album Han Solo is scheduled for May 24, 2018 .
