A sequel to this movie is currently in development. It was titled Soldado and written by Taylor Sheridan, who worked on the original. At the moment it is known that in the sequel we will not see the heroine Emily Blunt, whose storyline ended in the first part. At the center of the new story will be the characters of Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin, who will travel to Mexico to provoke a war between several cartels there.
