Colin Farrell will produce dark Irish detective

Image Colin Farrell found the first project for his production company, Chapel Place Productions, which he runs with his sister Claudine Farrell. It is reported that the famous actor will join forces with fellow Lobster and The Favorite film producer Lee Maghidei in the development of the screen version of the crime novel of the debutante Dervla McTiernan, The Ruins. We wrote about this project last year, when the Australian studio Hopscotch Features bought the rights to adapt the printed original.

The plot of the novel revolves around detective Cormac Riley, who, 20 years later, is forced to return to the investigation of the old case of the mother of two children, Hilaria Blake, who died from an overdose. When it turns out that the corpse of Hilaria's son was found in one of the rivers of Irish Galway, Cormac leaves for the scene, and events take an unexpected turn. The book is described as an atmospheric, resonant, confusing and dark journey into the heart of Ireland, where corruption and crime by the church are closely intertwined.

The Ruins was the first novel in the Cormac Riley series. The book was published in the USA, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia, where it hit the top 10 bestsellers. The second part of the series was published this spring, and the third and final part will be released next year.
