Netflix To Film Prequel To One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (Topic)

Famed TV producer Ryan Murphy will direct Netflix's drama series "Ratched", a prequel to the cult movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. In two seasons of 18 episodes, the story of Head Nurse Mildred Ratched, played by Louise Fletcher in the 1975 movie, will be told. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Netflix acquired the rights to the project, in which Sarah Paulson will play the main role, bypassing competitors such as Apple and Hulu.

The Fox 21 Television Studios project will be co-produced by Michael Douglas, who served as executive producer on the 1975 movie adaptation. Production will begin in mid-2018 with Murphy himself movieing the pilot. Newcomer Evan Romansky wrote a screenplay for sale that came to Murphy's eye. Over the course of the year, Murphy legalized character rights and dealt with other issues with movie producer Saul Zanz.

The original story unfolds in 1947 and shows Ratched's journey from nurse to monster, her horrific career advancement in the healthcare system .
