Dark Justice League on TV

Image In January, it became known that JJ Abrams and his production company Bad Robot would be developing films and TV series based on comics about the Dark Justice League, and one of these projects received the go-ahead from Warner Bros. Abrams is reportedly to be co-producing Justice League Dark, which will air on HBO Max, WarnerMedia's new streaming service.

So far, journalists have neither the details of the plot, nor even information about which characters attracted the attention of JJ Abrams. And the choice before the producer is not easy. The Dark Justice League is a very colorful team. It included the occultist and avid smoker John Constantine, the Swamp Thing, the fortune teller Madame Xanadu, the ghost named Dead, the witch Zatanna, the vampire Andrew Bennett and others.

The Dark Justice League has already gathered on the screens, but only in a cartoon version. All attempts to adapt the original comics for a feature film have failed. Most of the talk was around Guillermo del Toro's version, but he left the project back in 2016. Doug Lyman, who replaced him, also lingered briefly. Some Dark Justice League members have been more fortunate. The same John Constantine received his own full-length solo album and series, and now he is walking around the comic universe of The CW channel. The DC Universe's Swamp Thing was supposed to lay the groundwork for other Dark Justice League projects, but the series was canceled after the first season.

It should be assumed that the "Dark Justice League" in Abrams's reading will be horror, and the HBO Max management will strive to create a series for older viewers, not for family viewing.
